Why choose a credit union?

Most of us have a checking account and a savings account. If we want to borrow money, we think of that bank first. But you may be forgetting about a wonderful alternative---your local credit union.

With a bank you are just one of many customers. Banks are for-profit institutions and their main goal is to make money for the stockholders of their company. A credit union is not-for-profit entity and their goal is tp pass along profits to their members. This comes in the form of added member benefits such as low fees and low rates.

Our credit union has an annual dinner for all its members where many also win good prizes. That alone makes it a good investment for the small share fee required to join. Most of the time our credit union doesn't charge a late fee if you have forgotten to pay or if you are having financial troubles. As long as you let the credit union know, and work out a feasible arrangement with them, there is usually no extra charge.

Best of all, there is usually no wait time at the credit union office. They will even take care of most business over the phone. This is a really added plus in this busy day and age!
